April 2, 2026—CFISD staff, students, community members and business partners gathered at the Berry Center and Cy-Fair FCU Stadium for the 12th Superintendent’s Fun Run on March 28. The fundraiser concluded with CFISD and Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital representatives presenting a check worth $95,000 to the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation (CFEF).

March 20, 2026—For the third consecutive year, CFISD has earned the Texas Thespians Premier Communities for Theatre Education Award. The award recognizes and honors school districts that provide theatre programs with resources to achieve above standard ratings, as rooted in the Educational Theatre Association’s Opportunity to Learn Standards, Texas Theatre Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Fine Arts and support of International Thespian Society Troupe involvement.

Feb. 26, 2026—CFISD’s winners in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) School Art Program were announced after undergoing multiple rounds of judging.  

Jan. 30, 2026—The 12th Superintendent’s Fun Run is scheduled for March 28 from 8-11 a.m. at the Berry Center (8877 Barker Cypress Road) and Towne Lake community. Filled with exciting live entertainment, two course layouts for running or walking, kids’ activities and other family-friendly attractions, the fun run is the largest outdoor fundraising event in the district. Funds raised will directly benefit student scholarships through the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation.

Nov. 14, 2025—Nine CFISD middle school productions placed and were recognized at the CFISD Middle School UIL One-Act Play Contest, held Oct. 20, 24 and 30 at the Berry Center.

Sept. 30, 2025—Twelve CFISD music ensembles were named winners of The Foundation for Music Education’s 2025 Mark of Excellence and Citation of Excellence awards.

Sept. 9, 2025—The Anthony, Smith and Sprague middle school orchestras were named finalists for the 2025 Houston Cup. The award recognizes excellent orchestra teaching and directing at the middle school level across the greater Houston area.

Aug. 18, 2025—The Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) named CFISD a 2025 District of Distinction award winner, marking the fifth consecutive year the district has earned the prestigious designation. CFISD is among only 109 districts in the state to earn the award.

July 24, 2025—CFISD was recently named an Exemplary District of Distinction by the Texas Educational Theatre Association (TxETA). This is the highest designation awarded to individual schools and districts that are making outstanding contributions to raising the standards for theatre education through achievement, curation of resources, diversity and advocacy for theatre arts.

June 30, 2025—Anthony Middle School eighth grade student Addison Than and Metcalf Elementary School fifth grade student Hannah Ruiz both placed in the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation (TAPT) State School Bus Safety Poster Contest.

May 22, 2025—CFISD has been honored with the 2025 Best Communities for Music Education national designation from the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation for the eighth consecutive year.

The Anthony Middle School seventh and eighth grade girls and the Sprague Middle School seventh and eighth grade boys clinched their respective track and field district championships at the District Meet, held April 22 and 24 at Cypress Woods and Cypress Falls high schools.

March 24, 2025—Sprague Middle School sixth grade student Vir Lagad is applauded by his teachers for being an excellent student.  

March 20, 2025—The CFISD 2024-2025 middle school basketball season concluded on Feb. 20. District zone champions were named at the conclusion of the season.

March 6, 2025—More than 400 students from all 20 CFISD middle schools participated in the annual CFISD Middle School Drama Con on Jan. 25 at the Berry Center.  

Feb. 14, 2025—The 11th Superintendent’s Fun Run is scheduled for March 29 from 8-11:30 a.m. at the Berry Center (8877 Barker Cypress Road) and Towne Lake community.

Jan. 24, 2025—CFISD has earned the Texas Thespians Premier Communities for Theatre Education Award for the second consecutive year.

Oct. 30, 2024—Nine CFISD middle schools productions placed and were recognized at the CFISD Middle School UIL One-Act Play contest, held Oct. 17, 22 and 25 at the Berry Center.
