Redo & Late Work Policy
Grading Policies & Procedures
At Sprague, we empower our students to reach their full potential by staying consistent with their coursework. By meeting assignment timelines, students remain fully engaged in their learning journey, build valuable self-management skills, and have the best opportunity to showcase their true mastery of the content.
Why Turning Work In On Time Matters
- Improves test, project, progress report, and report card grades.
- Ensures students are prepared to fully participate in class.
- Aligns with CFISD grading pillars—grades should reflect mastery of content, not work habits.
Late Work Policy
- 5 points will be deducted per day for late assignments, up to a maximum of 5 days late.
- Assignments not submitted by the 5th day will receive a grade of zero.
Progress Report and Report Card Deadlines
- All Check for Understanding (daily) assignments must be submitted by the Progress Report deadline to earn any credit.
- No late work will be accepted during the final week (5 school days) of the grading period. Teachers and students should plan accordingly.
Redo/Retest Guidelines
The following criteria outline the expectations for retest and redo opportunities:
Summative Assessments (Major Test)
- Students may retake one test per grading period per course if they earned a failing grade (below 70).
- The highest possible grade on a retest is 70. Students will not receive a grade lower than their original score.
- Before retesting, students must complete a teacher-assigned intervention, such as attending a tutorial or completing test corrections.
- Projects or papers assigned two or more weeks in advance are not eligible for resubmission.
Relevant Applications
- Students may redo one relevant application per grading period per course if they earned a failing grade (below 70).
- The highest possible grade on a redo is 70. Students will not receive a grade lower than their original score.
Checks for Understanding (Daily Grades)
- Students may redo one daily grade or class assignment (Check for Understanding) for which they earned a failing grade.
- DPMS or benchmark assessments are not eligible for retest or redo opportunities.
General Information
- Assignments that are failing due to late penalties are not eligible for a redo.
- All retests/redos must be completed before the end of the grading period.
Grading Communication
- To help families track progress, redo grades are entered in the Home Access Center (HAC) using a decimal format.
- Example: If an original grade of 60 is improved to a 70, the entry will appear as 70.60.
- This format allows both the student and parent to see that a redo was completed to achieve mastery. Teachers may also include a comment in the gradebook for further clarification.
